Storms have been pummeling parts of the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles since late Sunday night. Supercell thunderstorms have commonly produced tennis to baseball sized hail causing a lot of destruction.
Happy, Texas was hit particularly hard Sunday night with damaging winds up to 80 mph and hailstones the size of baseballs. Windows were broken due to wind driven hail and several trees were damaged in the community.
Storms continued to persist overnight in northeast New Mexico and the northern panhandles where damaging winds and destructive hail continued to be a problem.
Felt, Oklahoma also took a direct hit with tennis ball sized hail just after 10 p.m. Sunday.
Storms continued to roll out of New Mexico and into the panhandle early Monday morning. Tennis to baseball size hail also hammered Fritch, Texas just before 5 a.m. Monday.
Storms continue to impact the northeastern panhandle this morning and will impact morning commutes for several communities. A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH remains in effect until 11 a.m.
Additional storms are expected Monday afternoon in the same areas being impacted this morning. Supercell thunderstorms will be possible once again with 2" hail, 70 mph winds, and flash flooding being the primary hazards.
