The Mountaineers got on the board first and matched the Buffs fast tempo offense early which allowed them to stay in the game for the majority of the first half. Each team traded shots with five lead changes until WTAMU gained a nine-point lead by a pair of made free throw attempts by Zach Toussaint. Â

West Texas A&M capitalized off 14 turnovers from the Mountaineers in the first half and scored 24 points from 16 total turnovers from Western Colorado in the contest.Â

At the break the Mountaineers were down 41-24 and had a little bit of a slow start going into the final 20 minutes. The Buffaloes went on a 13-point run extending their lead to 32 points, before a free-throw by Tyler Halligan gave Western Colorado their first points of the half. Â
