CANYON, Texas – The Buffaloes of West Texas A&M couldn't find a rhythm offensively on Sunday afternoon as they dropped the series finale to the UAFS Lions at Wilder Park in Canyon to close out the opening weekend of the Lone Star Conference Championships.

The Lions jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning as Nico Patrick grounded out to short with one out to plate Brandon Ulmer for the 1-0 lead. UAFS added to their lead in the top of the third inning as Patrick lifted a two-run shot to right center to make it 3-0.

UAFS added to their lead in the top of the fourth inning on a Noah Davis RBI single to left center with two outs to plate Blayse Quarnstrom for the 4-0 advantage. The Buffs got on the board in the home half of the sixth inning on a
Rodric Black RBI single up the middle with two outs to drive in
Kory Schmidt to make it 4-1.

Matt Milner picked up the loss (4-3) for the Buffs, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits with three walks and four strikeouts in his 3.0 innings of work.

The Buffs now await their postseason fate as the field for the 2024 NCAA Division II Baseball postseason will be announced on Sunday, May 12th via an online selection show at NCAA.com.
